Scottish Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Championship Show  18 / October / 2014  Critiques

      Bitches

Judge Mrs K Sloan

Having been associated with the Scottish CKCS Club for many, many years, it was indeed a privilege to be invited to judge at this special annual event. My sincere thanks to the committee and helpers for such a well organised show and for their excellent hospitality. A special mention also to Terry Bickerton, my ring steward who was most efficient and kept proceedings moving like  " clockwork ."

All  the  exhibitors are to be commended on the presentation of their bitches and their gracious manner when accepting their awards. It was such a pity there were so may absentees but I was extremely pleased with all my principal winners.

My co-judge Diane Searle was delightful...I liked her dog CC winner but for the final decision, we requested  the referee Dick Morrison should perform this duty.  The tricolour dog Loranka's Heavenly Moment was awarded BIS. The referee was again required to decide Best Puppy. The winner of this title was the blenheim puppy bitch, Deranmar Jocelyn.

Veteran  (5 -2)

1 McMurray's Merryoth Maeve...Tri of 10 years plus and so full of energy. Most endearing classical head with sweet expression. Appreciated her neat size and well balanced body. Obviously knowing what was required from her, she moved with precision and purpose. I believe this show marked her well earned  “ retirement. “ Well done , Maeve !

2 Glen's Sandbrae Beyond The Blue....well proportioned B/T in excellent condition. She too is 10 years plus and displayed all her assets to her advantage. Beautiful dark eyes giving the true melting expression and the longest of ears framing her head to perfection. Just lost out on topline today but a credit to her owner.

3 Patrick's Sandbrae Sapphire at Drumachose
